About
I’m a self taught artist. Collage is my wordless handmade form of story telling and day dreaming. The materials I work with are simple; found paper and glue. My tools are a knife, scissors and pencils. I enjoy the relative simplicity of the process. It’s personal. I view most of my collages as time capsules. They hold a moment of my life and mark time like a cairn marks a location on a trail. What interests me is representing the space between inner and outer worlds and playing in my imagination; decoding the world of ghosts found in the commonplace.
I hunt and gather paper and images from the supersaturated visual print environment; then I invent a
memory with each work. When a collage succeeds it invites the viewer to step into it and move around. My daughter says my collages are all temples and traps. I’m pleased with that viewpoint. I could further categorize them into still lifes, conversations with the shadow, spirits, nature, and the puzzling modern world. I’m still awaiting the poetry that might title them.
